A Beautiful Baby and A Broken Heart

This is Adi and you may be thinking that she is another of Cija's beautiful babies.  I have the best job, of course, that I am surrounded by beautiful babies all the time.

While Adi is indeed a B-E-U-tiful baby this was no ordinary photo shoot.  These photos were taken in the CICU (cardiac intensive care unit) at The Children's hospital.

Because this "Pretty Princess" is very sick.
It was discovered at her 2 month check up that she had a very broken heart.
I copied this description of her diagnosed from her blog...
"She has a very rare life threatening condition involving her mitral valve in her heart. Baby Adi was diagnosed with Severe Mitral Valve Stenosis and Regurgitation from Tethered Posterior Leaflet with Left Atrial Hypertension and Systemic Pulmonary Hypertension on April 28, 2012."

Adi needs a new heart but the damage caused by her current heart could likely ruin a new heart before the surgery would even be concluded.  It seems that now her liver is suffering and surgery to try and repair parts of her condition needs to be done.  As the doctor's say "there, is no good option" for Adi.  What she needs most, is a Miracle.  The kind only God can provide.

It wouldn't be the first time this family has received  a miracle, just a little over 2 years ago, Adi's big brother Joshua suffered a life threatening fall... he wasn't supposed to survive, but there he is sitting on his daddy's lap.

When I arrived at the hospital this afternoon, Stephani was feeding Adi, so we had a chance to just sit and talk.  She told me about her diagnosis and used words that I had never heard before in a way that they seemed to be part of her everyday vocabulary.  Words that a mom should never know or understand.
She said she was tired, only a few hours sleep the last two nights, listening to make sure that Adi was breathing okay but she smiled while she chatted with me and seemed to have a peace that didn't make sense.
"How old are you?" I asked.
23
Stephani and her Justan have faced more tragedy,  and spent more days in a hospital than I have in my 44 years, but they have a grace and strength about them that is down right inspiring (and I know that they would give the God credit for that grace and strength).
Adi was just about the sweetest baby I have ever met,
she was so content and so quick to smile her "Pretty Princess smile".
She is also a huge fan of "Finding Nemo" (she is watching it in the photo below)... so cute!

Will you please join me in praying for Adi and her family?
 This family needs another MIRACLE!
