Baby Photographer in Castle Rock, CO

Some shoots are not as straight forward as you expect them to be.  Amelia is one of my milestone babies, so we have hung out before... at 3 months and 6 months.  Today was her 9 month shoot!  She has always been so low key on her shoots, but today she was just not feelin' it.  She wanted her mama... period!  When we first got started she sat in my chair but there would be no smiling, which of course is fine by me, I love the serious faces (they are some of my favorites).
But  when we changed clothes and switched locations she made up her mind that her mama would be holding her from that point on.   Oh we tried.  Here... there... and everywhere.  But she was not interested in being put down any more.  Precious little Amelia!
 She was happy as a clam as long as mama was holding her!
 We went back to the car, tried warming up a bit and gave it another shot.  Nope...  she was not having it.
So, we went with plan B.  We loaded up and headed to the coffee shop (just being in a coffee shop makes me feel better and as fate would have it... it makes Amelia feel better too!!)

 Oh Yes, life was much better at the coffee shop!  Leslie and I got to enjoy the Winterland White Mocha YUM!! and we even managed to get the signature 9 month shot, STANDING!!!!

 Turned out to be a super fun shoot!  A super cute baby girl, coffee, and some great conversation!!

Tonight is date night with the girls, and Grandma will be here in 30 minutes.  The scary thing is, the girls are giving Snickers a bath, I shudder to think!!!  Poor snickers, that dog is a saint!
I'm not sure what Ryanne and I will do tonight, I'd like to talk her into pedicures... but she might see through my suggestion.  Perhaps a movie since we have some extra time tonight, time will tell.
Enjoy your President's day!!

A Cooking Blog in my future?????? Umm... NO!

 I have a nasty little habit of deciding on "the day" that I want to do something "more" to celebrate.  This usually leaves me scrambling to throw something together with stuff I have around the house, sometimes it works out brilliantly other times it does not.   So Rod is usually in charge of spoiling the girls on Valentine day and I just sit back and watch a daddy dote on his daughters but this year at 2:30 in the afternoon (1 hour before I had to pick up the girls at school I decided to make them sugar cookies for a tasty Valentine snack.  I rushed to get my recipe for "Della's Sugar Cookies" just a touch of nutmeg makes these cookies the B-E-S-T!!  Panic struck when I couldn't find it.  Now a normal person would have simply walked away and decided to either come up with something else or just let Rod handle the Valentine festivities.  I am not that person.  I was determined to make sugar cookies.  I remembered that I had seen a recipe on Pinterest  for "Paradise Bakery Sugar Cookies" I would make those.

Now have you ever been on those cooking blogs where all those pictures look amazing, each step is a work of art and their kitchens are equally as lovely???
 That's not exactly how it went at my house...  I grabbed the ingredients (well almost, it called for 2 cups of shortening and I only had a cup so I thought I would improvise with 1 cup of butter, but all my butter was frozen, so I popped it in the microwave... in the wrappers for, umm.... too long!  What a mess!)
 Moving on I put the sugar and powdered sugar in the bowl with the rubber spatula, I reached to plug in the mixer and quickly discovered that the mixer was in the "ON" position!!!  Powdered sugar went flying everywhere!!!  With the rubber spatula flaying around like a fish out of water!!
 Well... I don't see a fancy cooking blog in my future!!   In the end my kitchen and microwave were a MESS!!! But the cookies were a hit.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend!!  Mine is going to include an Art Show, a jewelry party, a birthday dinner at the Cheesecake factory (not my birthday, but my gal pal Amity!), church and Home Fellowship!!  Should be a fun one!!  OH!!! and last night we got to teach the Cromwell's how to play Nertz!!

Portrait Photographer in Castle Rock, CO

 Yesterday I was with Mark, Tamara, Hailey and Paige.   I enjoyed these little girls so much.
 Paige had in her mind exactly how she wanted to look for her photos, she had this little head tilt and sly smile practiced to perfection.  I think it's adorable and it is definitely one of those "take you back in time" photos.  No doubt, years from now these photos of Paige will prompt the "Oh remember how she..."  I LOVE those kind of photos!!

 Both girls were so polite and behaved so amazingly well!!  It was pretty darn chilly but they were such brave little troopers, they were such a joy to work with!

So??? do you have big plans for the weekend?  I am looking forward to our dinner guests, the Cromwells and playing some "Settler's of Catan" this evening.  Which means I really should wrap things up here and start some cooking!  Have a great weekend!  I will see you next week! Cija

Children's Photographer in Castle Rock, CO

I hope your Valentine's day is off to a good start!  Rod and I actually celebrated last Friday (is it wrong that I want a do over now that it is actually Valentine's Day!) we went to see "The Vow" (good movie and it's based on a true story) and then went to dinner at Maggiano's.  Tonight I will see if I can come up with something festive for the whole family.  I did have heart shaped donuts for the girlies this morning (it was a total fluke, I stumbled across them yesterday when I was looking for a glazed donut to put in Maquires's lunch (Ryanne had to make his lunch today and it was on his request list).
 FINALLY!!!  Yesterday, I was able to actually do a photo shoot!  This cold weather has made the rescheduling in February a challenge!  And I was delighted to break out the camera for my little gal pal, Hartly, who is turning 2!!!  How can that even be possible?
Of course, Hartly's grandma joined us. LOVE!  She always has the best props to play with! Love this old tricycle!  However, I was a little disappointed that we did not have our usual "animal co-star"!!  No chicken, no goat... not even a horse!!

 And then there is Kayla, Hartly's beautiful mommy.  I don't know what it is about this family but I am secretly claiming them as part of my own.  I just love them so much!  So it's fitting that their sneak peek finds it's self on Valentine's day!!
It was still pretty darn cold so we had to move things instead...  Kayla suggested the fire station!!  The firemen in Larkspur and very accommodating!

Well, I must be off... there is much to be done!!  I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's day!

“Therefore I am now going to allure her;
   I will lead her into the wilderness
   and speak tenderly to her.
 There I will give her back her vineyards,
   and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.
There she will respond as in the days of her youth,
   as in the day she came up out of Egypt.
    “In that day,” declares the LORD,
   “you will call me ‘my husband’;
   you will no longer call me ‘my master.’

 I will betroth you to me forever;
   I will betroth you in righteousness and justice,
   in love and compassion.

Now, I am sure some of you are wandering where are all the boys?!?!?  I can tell you that I have many more girls than boys for milestone pictures (what's up with that moms?)... while I do have a  couple of boys right now they are still working on finishing up their 1st year and the others were back into 2010 and those pictures are no longer available...  so we have girls this time.  Perhaps I will do this again sometime with the handsome fellas.

Well, as I have spent several hours on this little project I must move on, the kids are going to tumble in the front door any minute looking for a snack!!  Have a great weekend. Cija
