In home Boudoir Photographer in Castle Rock, CO

Some of you probably didn't know I do boudoir photography, that's because it is mostly word of mouth. My heart behind why I do this type of photography really doesn't match up with the reason most seek to have this type of photography done.

My heart would be that these types of photos would be reserved for a husband vs. a boyfriend... an idea seen as mostly old fashioned, so I don't really advertise.  Which typically means, these types of shoots come in waves. One person will have pictures taken, tell their friends and my bookings with go up, then it tappers off until the next person stumbles upon me.
Chelsey had these photos done as a wedding gift for her husband. They just got married on March 2nd. He's in the military so they loaded up the car and headed for Maryland the follow Tuesday. Then it will off for a honeymoon in Ireland.
If you are looking to take some photos for you and your husband, please reach out to me directly to learn more.

Boudoir Photographer in Castle Rock, CO

Yes, I know. I thought the same thing.  “There is no way I am taking pictures of myself in nothing but my bra and panties!  I don’t even like the few minutes while getting dressed that are spent in just my bra and panties.”  And yet, just a few short years ago I did just that.

Some may wonder, as a christian, what in the world am I doing taking “those” kind of pictures.

I never thought I would be doing boudoir photography when I started my business, in fact, I don’t even think I knew there was such a thing. But one day someone asked me about it, and the requests just kept coming.

I started to think about it. I wasn’t sure I could do it, I mean, could I even “see” the photos?  And who in their right mind is going to volunteer so I could practice!  Which left me with only one thing to do.  Try and take boudoir photos of myself! Let me just say it was indeed every bit of comical that you might be imagining!! Most of the photos were ridiculous, out of focus or of me flying through the air trying to get into position before the shutter went off, but there were a handful of images that made me pause, tilt my head a little, squish up my lips and say, “hmmm”.

In a moment of unusual courage I printed those images, ran to Michael’s and purchased a small scrapbook and proceed to arrange them in the purchased album.  I wrapped the book in paper and left it sitting on the coffee table with Rod’s name on it. And then I hid. Nervous out of my mind, what in the world was I doing!! Had I lost my mind!  I am not the kind of girl that can take these kind of photos of herself! Sure, I have been told all my life that I have a pretty face but from the neck down things have gone terrible wrong!

As he peeled back the paper I wanted to lunge out of my hiding place, grab the book and throw it in the fireplace.  But then I remembered, we don’t have a fireplace, so I stayed put, frozen in place my mind racing.

I watched as he lifted the cover, I closed my eyes and braced myself for the laughter that was sure to follow. But all I heard was the faintest gasp, I looked, peeking around the corner and watched as his fingers slowly traced each photo.  He lingered over and savored each image and when he reached the end he made his way backwards through the book again.

For the first time, in some 20 years of marriage I was able to see myself through the eyes of my husband and I never felt more beautiful than in that moment.  It made me think of the girl in Song of Solomon, “I am dark, yet lovely.”  The world around us is happy to help us focus in on those things that have been deemed less than desirable.  For the girl in Song of Solomon, her skin was “too dark” but she knew that even though she didn’t meet the world’s standards she was “lovely”.

That day while watching my husband look at me, I too realized that I am lovely, fearfully and wonderfully made, His masterpiece.

Your husband will probably love photos of you, just as much as my husband loved photos of me.  Here is a note I received from one such husband:

"Last night, my wife gave me the anniversary book she worked with you in creating and I just wanted to let you know that I was blown away.
From our family picture sessions, I already knew God has blessed you with many gifts.  But what you did with my wife, capturing her incredible beauty, and doing it in our home was both very special and truly artistic.  In addition, your talents allowed me to see and appreciate Amy even more after hearing all she did to make this gift for me a reality…not to mention that she got way outside of her comfort zone and put herself “out there”.  She would not have done that with just anyone, but your warm heart gave her trust to do so.   So thank you for everything you did for us".

But what I love the most about boudoir photography is watching one beautiful woman after the next realize that she is truly “lovely”.

Here are just a few comments from my lovely ladies!
- "Oh my gosh, I can't believe that is me, I am still beautiful"
- "Is that me? I can't believe that's me! Thank you sooooo much!!!"

- "I love them. Thank you Thank you Thank you so much for being a tool in the hand of God. "
- "I love them Cija!!!!  This is truly my husbands dream come true!"
- "You are going to start a marriage revival with these photo shoots. Thank you so much! My husband is going to love them and I love them too!
- "Cija, thank you so much!  I am sitting here with tears in my eyes, thank you for reminding me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
- "I just saw them. You are amazing! Can I just say, as awkward and embarrassing this was initially, I am so happy I did this. I feel freed. I know the Lord wanted me to see myself "naked and unashamed." Thank you for having the courage to do this and for helping so many of us. "
- "I just wanted to thank you again for today and tell you that after doing the shoot , I’m recommending it to all my friends – I think it’s a great thing for married women to do, but also something a woman could do just for herself from time to time – it’s been such a good reminder to me (and an eye opener for me) how, as a woman, I need to make time for myself and keep doing the things that make me feel “kept up”, just for me, but also because when I’m feeling less like a worn out, frazzled, stay-at-home mom of two busy little ones and more like my old self, I’m a better wife, mom, friend, etc.  Thanks for walking me thru it so patiently!"
- "Cija, It's been a long time since I've felt this beautiful. Thank you... with love and appreciation.
-  "Thanks for coming over today.  It was a delight to work with you.  Upon reflection, one thing that I noticed impacted me is the language that you use during the shoot.  You have the unique opportunity to affirm a woman in a vulnerable position using a woman's language!  Words like, incredible, beautiful, pretty.  Men don't necessarily use those words.  The fact that you take the time to utter them reflects another aspect of your boudior 'ministry'.  : )"
-  "Oh Cija!!... I'm speechless.  I had to show my girlfriend (I can't believe I wanted to show her).
 I LOVE THEM!"
-  "Boudoir Photography. Beauty.  Perfection.  Completion.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made.  Not until you experience it,  will you believe it, no matter who tells you.  It's the beauty that is in the curve of the back, the shoulder blade, the wisp of a curl, the beauty of the eyes.  It's you.  It's God's completion and love.  It's the beauty within a marriage. It's the beauty that takes that love to a deeper, more committed love. "It's not the desire of your spouse?" Yes, it is. It's the insecurity talking, forbidding you. It's what's been stripped from every woman, willing her to beat herself up from not being good enough, pretty enough, worthy enough.  Within the confines of a safe environment, with a classy photographer and a willing heart, you will be found.  Cija answers each scenario you seek.  You can do this, God's work will be revealed to you in yourself.  You will be shocked, you won't understand it and for the first time you will soar!"
-  I adore my photos. They are sophisticated  stylish, gorgeous,  artistic, and timeless. The best thing is that they feel like they really capture me; they incorporate my favorite parts of my home, my own decor and lingerie and shoes, and a few key possessions (most notably, they tastefully highlight my wedding ring and my love for my husband and the life we've built in that home).  I know my husband will adore them too and I can't wait to see the look on his face. The hardest part, surprisingly, was not having the photos taken. It was trying to decide which photos to buy, when I really wanted them all!
Thank you, 3 Wishes Photography, for a wonderful experience and a beautiful gift for both me and the man that I love."
Oh my word Cija... I cannot believe that's me.  They are beautiful.

I hope that maybe you will take a moment to consider doing something so outrageous! I can promise you you won't be disappointed.  I have opening available right now!! Visit my website for pricing information and contact me to request access to the private boudoir  gallery.

Today was a very happy day… my first Boudoir shoot of the Valentine season.  This is truly my very favorite type of photography.
I love sooo very much about it!
Hanging out with my boudoir buddy and fabulous make up and hair artist, Tina!
Watching her work her magic, oh I do so wish I could do that kind of make up!
Watching these nervous ladies overcome their nerves and really start to enjoy the shoot!
But my favorite part is just being a part of photographing these truly beautiful girls, so many listing their flaws and insecurities and then getting to see themselves in a new way.
So, I really hope that you will consider doing this... for you.

Boudoir Photography in Castle Rock, CO

SHHHH!!!! If you know, these lovely ladies, mums the word!!!  These shoots are surprises for their hubbies!!!
This past Friday, my Boudoir Buddy, Tina and I were out and about with a couple of beautiful ladies!!
Stephani (below) was our first shoot of the day, she had the most beautiful natural curls, I was a wee bit jealous!!  She was braving the "Boudoir Shoot" as an anniversary gift for her husband of 5 years.
After a bite to eat at Chili's, where Tina's very handsome son waited on us and we ran into our gal pal, Amity (ya just gotta love living in a small town), we headed up to the Marriott, where Lyra had rented a room for her boudoir session.  Can I just say that Lyra wins the award for most fabulous shoes!!!
They almost brought a little tear to my eye...
In addition, she wins the award for "Most Brave", I won't share the details here but...
she was a "ROCK STAR"!!! (I know some of you former boudoir babes are thinking to yourself "how could that possibly be true???" But it is!!  Just think about that for a minute!
Remember that out of respect for these wonderful women, I do not post any full photos in this forum, if you are a LADY and are interested in scheduling your own Boudoir Shoot and would like to see more of my work, please contact me directly at cija@3wishesphotography.com for access to a private viewing gallery. Well, it has been a very long day, photo shoot with Oliver, meal planning, hobby lobby, the garden center, Costco, the bank, Safeway, fairy garden building, working and dinner making... and I am pooped.  So, I will see you tomorrow!!!

So Tina and I were at it again this week.  We had such a GREAT time with Krista!  She had some of the prettiest "pretties" I have ever seen!  I loved how she was telling us that she pretended that morning was just like any other...  she got up, got ready for work, left and then waited for her husband to leave before she circled back around!
Krista was so excited about her experience that I asked if she would write a little something to share with you all... Here is what she had to say.

"I have wanted to get boudoir photos taken as a surprise for my husband for quite some time, but the mere thought of going to an unfamiliar studio with a photographer I didn't know was a deterrent. 3 Wishes Photography gave me a better option. Cija brought the photo shoot to my home, which seems like the most natural place in the world to be comfortable and intimate. I had to do very little except think of a few outfits and ideas, and 3 Wishes showed up, did my makeup and hair and jewelry styling, eased into the shoot so I could get familiar with the style of direction, and then I just got to relax and listen.  And the result was truly a miracle.
I adore my photos. Thank you, 3 Wishes Photography, for a wonderful experience and a beautiful gift for both me and the man that I love."

Yep, Tina and I were at it again this week!

There will be so many happy husband's this Valentine's day (and happy ladies too... these photo shoots are just too much fun!)

(Seriously I don't know why my text won't center on the page, but in an effort to not end up throwing my computer across the room, I am letting that go now.)

This sweet gal is one of my favorite clients, she hired me my very first year in "official" business and has hired me every year since!  I told Tina she has the cold weather curse!  Every shoot, even this one, it is freezing outside!

So here's the deal, I LOVE this type of photography and Tina and I have been talking, I want to make this a bigger part of my business!  As know know, I could go on and on and on about how much I love watching the impact these shoots have on these precious girls which is the major reason these shoots are so close to my heart.  And with birthdays, father's day, weddings and anniversaries all year long this could easily be year round business and not just for Valentine's day.

SO...

I need your HELP!  I need you to spread the word, tell your friends.  Oh and you... what about you!!  You should book your own session!  Do it for you!  This isn't about having a perfect body, this about seeing the beauty in who YOU ARE!   It's an amazing feeling to look at pictures of yourself and not feel the need to pick it apart, pointing out all your "flaws" and it's even more amazing to see yourself through the eyes of someone who loves you.  I will never forget the feeling I had as Rod looked at my photos; makes me a wee bit teary even now.

So stop making excuses, stop saying "I'll do it when..."  and just DO IT!!!  You won't regret it!!!  I promise!  XOXO Cija

This past week Tina and I had the best time working with Stephanie.  She booked her session back in December and had been sweatin' bullets ever since, just thinking about it.  This was so far out of her comfort zone.  I have known Stephanie for a while and when I look at her all I see if a beautiful woman on the inside and out, but like all of the fabulous ladies I have worked with, when the shoot began, out came her list of  things she didn't like about herself.  The impact that Steph's shoot had on her was significant and I asked if she would be willing to come on my blog as guest blogger and share the "after effect" with you all.  So please welcome, Stephanie.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!  It's Boudoir season!!  Oh how I love these shoots, I told Tina (my boudoir buddy) that we should go into full time boudoir business! On Tuesday... well, one day this week anyway, Tina and I had back to back boudoir shoots with friends, Jessica and Julie!
The only thing better than 1 boudoir shoot is 2 boudoir shoots!!!
I just wish you could see how beautiful their pictures turned out, but... I have made a decision to not post for the world photos that are meant for their husbands, so these head shots will have to do.
If you are interested in scheduling your own totally FUN boudoir shoot, contact me to see a private gallery of my work (ladies only please!!!)

I hate to jump on the "complain about the weather" bandwagon but... I had a shoot last night and a shoot tonight that I had to reschedule and I was itching to get out there with my camera!  But it wasn't all that bad...  last night we decided to have a spur of the moment, week late celebration of Cinco De Mayo!!  I will celebrate any holiday that includes the yumminess of Mexican Food!!  In fact... so far the weekend has been simply perfect!  It started with a girlfriend coming for lunch and staying the whole live long day!  LOVE THAT!  Then a group of friends for dinner and games... LOVE THAT TOO!! and today was just a low key day with Rod and the girls, in fact,  Rod, Melia and Ryanne just headed out to Redbox to score us a little evening entertainment to go with the left over burritos!!
But... if we rewind to Thursday, it brings us to this very lovely lady.  Following Bible Study, my Boudoir Buddy, Tina and I were scheduled to do a Boudoir shoot with our sweet friend, Coreena.  As with all my clients she was nervous and had a list of why today was not the best day... but we managed to push through the objections and make it to her shoot.  We had SOOO much fun!  The shoot went so well and she such a natural!!  In the end, she did things she never thought she would but this was her reaction after she saw her sneak peek
"Oh Cija!!... I'm speechless.  I had to show my girlfriend (I can't believe I wanted to show her).
 I LOVE THEM!"
If you are married and love you husband, then you HAVE TO do this!!!  He will love it and you will be amazed at what the Lord will do for you!
Until next time!!!  Cija

I just love this time of year... the fall rush of family shoots has slowed and the theme of my winter shoots shifts while people wait for warmer weather to venture out again for pictures.  Leaving me, with some of my favorite photo opps!!  Babies, Bellies and Boudoir!  And with Valentine's just a week and half away, Boudoir photography is topping the list!  Many of you already know my heart behind doing this type of photography but I feel that it is worth repeating.  I would have never dreamed that I was be so crazy for these bedroom shoots.  In fact, when I was first asked about doing such a shoot, I laughed right out loud!  But the requests continued to come, I shared a rather humorous story of my own boudoir experience in an earlier post so I won't go into detail but in short, being both the Boudoir Babe and the photographer, lent it's self to a rather comical episode to say the least.

It's what happened after, that struck me so deeply.  If I was to be measured by the typical standard for beauty I fear I would not rate high on that scale, there is more of me than there should be and my heels look more like railroad tracks than feet! (Two years ago, the list of things I didn't like about physical appearance would have been much, much longer.)

But the pictures told a different story, I saw a beautiful girl staring back at me.  Pictures that I thought sure would find their demise at the push of the delete key, instead found their way into a photo album for my husband.  I was a nervous wreck... my Rodney is a man of few words and most of the time his compliments are tucked in a glance or an unassuming touch.   That night as his eyes and fingers lingered over the pictures, back and forth over the pages, something happened... I began to see myself through the eyes of someone who loved me.

Boudoir photography is so much more to me than just sexy pictures of picture perfect women.  It's about appreciating the beauty in every woman, all shapes and all ages for we are all wonderfully made!  It's about these women finally being able to see the deep and vast beauty in themselves... to see themselves through the eyes of Someone who loves them.
"Arise, my darling, my beautiful one and come with me."
Song of Songs 2:10

I hope that you will consider taking this journey... it is well worth it!

Happy Hump Day!  Today I had so much fun with Marybeth!  She did a Boudoir shoot as a Father's Day gift for her husband.  I do believe his is going to be one happy daddy!  I do all of my Boudoir shoots indoors for obvious reasons, often times, folks will choose to come here for their shoot but on occasion I get invited to come to their homes for their shoot and today was one of those days.  Marybeth's husband has a very cool and very big Harley Davidson which we got to use in part of our shoot.  My favorite part was that Marybeth proved herself to be quite resourceful.  As I am a natural light photographer a garage can come with more than a few obstacles, but she found a way to make it work.  When I arrived I knew exactly where I was going, it was the only house on the block with white sheets hanging in the garage door opening!! Genius!  The rest of the shoot was done in her shabby chic bedroom which made for a perfectly romantic backdrop.
Well, I must be off, the cherubs are home from school and running a muck, I must offer some assistance in channeling the energy!  If the rains goes away, tomorrow,  I will be with a little one celebrating 1 year!
Have a fabulous evening, until next time! Cija

Brrr!!  It's a bit chilly out today, ya just gotta love a State where it can be snowing in May and 75 degrees in January!  But the snow does mean that my shoot for today will need to be rescheduled.  Now to this lovely lady... isn't she GEE-OR-JUS!!  Liz booked a Boudoir session as a surprise birthday gift for her husband's 40th!!  I think he is going to one very happy man!
I always recommend a pair of heels, if I was giving a prize... Liz would win, hands down!!  I have no idea how she walked in those, let alone STAND!  But they were pretty cool!
Such beautiful eyes!

Keep in mind Boudoir photography isn't just for Valentine's Day, beautiful portraits of these lovely brides make wonderful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and evening Father's Day!

A big shout out to Tina!!  She provides beautiful makeup, hair styling AND the perfect accessories for each outfit during your shoot, all for only $45! I just LOVE her!

Well, I am off... Today I WILL clean the kitchen!
Until next time... Cija
