Castle Rock Photographer - High School Senior

Last night was another one of those shoots... the ones where I get to take pictures of a high school senior that I have been taking pictures of for 16 years! This is Luke and he is a 2025 senior at South High School, who plans to attend college next year at South Carolina. We did his shoot on the campus of Denver University, which a great choice for Denver residents who don't want to bother with the Denver Parks permit requirements. Luke, I hope you have a great senior year. This is an exciting time in your life! Thanks for trusting me with your photos.
PHOTOGRAPHER'S TIPS
I wanted to make sure and include the feel of the dramatic sky in this photo. Personally, I am not a fan of fill flash, so I took two photos. One that properly exposed Luke and one that exposed for the sky behind him, then I embedded the sky using photoshop. It's important to take the sky photo at the same aperture, it would look odd if the clouds were in focus while the buildings in the background are not. To do this, I just  switch the camera to manual focus so the shutter will still fire even though the image is out of focus. BUT... don't forget to switch it back!
I shot the above image from an angle, so that I could capture the reflected scenery in the the windows.
